Reminder: Wednesday, January 18th, 2017 – our day on the sledding hills!
Our first week back was busy and tiring. The children have quickly settled back into our daily routines and are working on building back up their stamina in completing reading, writing, and math activities. I am reading a chapter book to the students called Dinosaurs Before Dark. This is the first book in the Magic Tree House series by Mary Pope Osborne. I read one chapter a day and the children are so eager and engaged, they hate when I stop! Encourage your child to talk about what we have read. It is very important for the children to learn how to remember information in longer texts.

- retelling a story (characters, setting, problem, events, solution)
- word wall words, do, no, saw, this, very
- beginning/end sounds, ch, sh, th, wh
- using describing words to enhance writing
- adding and subtracting
- making number combinations
- ordinal numbers (1st, 2nd, 3rd…)
- body systems – brain, healthy eating
- Baptism – how the Church welcomes people to the Church at Baptism
