Please be sure that your child has warm mitts, gloves, and a hat. The weather has been changing dramatically throughout the day and many children are coming in very cold after recess.

Reading:
- We are continuing to work on making connections this week. This week during read-aloud we will be reading Yoko Learns to Read and Yoko’s Show and Tell. These are beautifully written simple stories that discuss familiar experiences that students can connect with.
- We will continue to work on using beginning sounds and what makes sense to help decode. We will begin to work on breaking works into syllables as a way to decode unknown words.
- Word Wall Words – car, good, play, talk, with
- Leaving spaces between our words
- How to plan a sentence
- Capitals and punctuation
- Naming 2D shapes and identifying the attributes of shapes
- Sorting and classifying shapes based on specific attributes (number of sides, corners, points, types of lines)
- Making 2D shapes using a variety of materials
- Creating our own version of “The Ten Commandments.”
- The lives of saints
- The Church calendar
