This week this is what we will be working on:
Reading:
- We are learning to visualize or “make a picture/movie in our head” as we read. This skill becomes very important as the children move towards reading longer texts with fewer pictures.
- We are learning how to make words using sounds and common patterns.
- Be sure to practice reading nightly
- Word Wall Words – all, because, but, can’t have
- Next week there will be no new words. We will be practicing and reviewing the words we know.
- Capitals, punctuation, leaving spaces, and spelling word wall words
- Learning to use describing words to make our writing more interesting
- Describing, drawing, and making patterns
- Identifying a pattern rule
- Using math language to describe a pattern
- Extend a pattern
- Sequencing of daily events and the seasons
