March Break seems a distant memory! The children have quickly gotten back into the classroom routines and are working hard at solidifying reading and writing skills. Please continue to read and practice word wall words nightly. Your child should be bringing home a book that is somewhat challenging. Please write a note in the agenda if your child is bringing home books that are much too easy.
This week, in Family Life, we will begin the Theme Three of Fully Alive called “Created Sexual: Male and Female.” The message of this unit is that we begin life as a result of the love our mothers and fathers shared. No matter what happens later, nothing can change that. A detailed list of the topics and language that is used was sent home last week. Please let me know if you have any questions.
Throughout the week we will be reading about Dominic and Sara, a young couple, who fall in love and decide to marry. We will learn that husbands and wives share their love by becoming parents. We will learn about the development of babies before birth and about the care and love they need after they are born. We also learn about the physical differences between boys and girls.
Please encourage your child to discuss the stories that we are hearing in class. Take this opportunity to talk to your child about how babies grow before they are born, and the special care they need after they are born. If you have a baby picture of your child to lend to our classroom, we would love to see it!
